Following the sold-out run of Hat Matter in 2022 (a show currently on its way to performances Off-Broadway and in London!), OTP is thrilled to stage the World Premiere of Michael Wayne Turner III’s new, one-of-a-kind meditation on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.— Ghost of King.

This one-person theatrical tour-de-force takes as its starting point a simple but haunting quote: “It may well be that we have to repent in this generation, not merely for… the violent actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence and indifference of the good people”

Ghost of King is an examination of King’s last sermon, delivered a few days before his assassination. The audience is guided through an exploration of King’s brilliance, as we break down and build up every word, punctuation, and intonation of his lessor known speeches, and maybe his most dangerous sermon– “Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution”.

Prepare yourself, as creator, Michael Wayne Turner III spins the original writings of Dr. King into an exuberant, life-affirming and provocative theatrical event, not to be missed.
